Are You Listening?
What is Passive Listening?
Passive listening is the act of listening to what is happening but not actively paying attention to what is being said or done. It can be better described as tuning in and tuning out, or just listening at the back of your mind. Passive listeners hear what is going on but they do not actively process it.
What is Active Listening?
Active listening is the exact opposite of passive listening. You are making an effort to hear and understand every word being said; your attention is entirely on what you hear. In other words, you are focused on the speaker and digesting what has been said.
What is Interactive Listening?
Interactive listening is slightly different than active listening. When you are listening interactively, you are not only paying attention to what is being said; you are also communicating and connecting to the talker.
